Rock Climbing Los Angeles
Rock climbing Los Angeles is on many people's bucket list when planning a visit to Southern California. Local climbing areas offer a great challenge to climbers of all levels.
One of the most popular locations is Stoney Point Park, which is a historic site with natural rocks outcropping east of Topanga Canyon Boulevard. It is considered one of the favorite local hiking spots. Travelers come from all over to hike, rock climb, boulder, take photographs and filming.
Stoney Point Park
This sandstone formation is surrounded by many fine boulders. Its consistency makes flakes break easily, especially after prolonged rain. Although it can get very warm during the summer months and windy on some occasions, there is hiking, climbing and bouldering available year round.

Its low elevation makes for a comfortable place to climb during the winter months. During summer months, you can move around the many corridors available to enjoy climbing in the shade.
At any time of the year, you will see people of all age groups walking or simply exploring the park. Discover the many trails that can deliver you to the top of the formations for spectacular views.
The park is close to the road, so your experience will only be minutes away from local restaurants, gas stations and shopping.
Leave No Trace
Do note, there is a lot of graffiti and broken glass in some areas of Stoney Point Park and it's a shame. There are clean up efforts happening, at least once a year.
Local efforts from Los Angeles rock climbing enthusiasts and hikers is encouraged to contribute whenever possible, as Stoney Point remains a city park granted mainly to such efforts.
During your visit, please do your part in practicing "Leave No Trace" and help our continuing efforts to protect its fragile natural habitat for plants and animals.
