Rock Climbing in Los Angeles

Rappel Courses in Los Angeles, CA, rock climbing guideLos Angeles rock climbing offers a great challenge to us all. One of the most popular locations is Stoney Point Park, which is a historic site with natural rocks outcropping east of Topanga Canyon Boulevard. It is considered one of the favorite local hiking spots. Travelers come from all over to hike, rock climb, boulder, take photographs and filming.

Stoney Point Park

This sandstone formation is surrounded by many fine boulders. Its consistency makes flakes break easily, especially after prolonged rain. Although it can get very warm during the summer months and windy on some occasions, there is hiking, climbing and bouldering available year round. Its low elevation makes for a comfortable place to climb during the winter months.

Leave No Trace

Rock climbing classes in Los Angeles, CADo note, there is a lot of graffiti and broken glass in some areas of Stoney Point Park and it's a shame. There are clean up efforts happening, at least once a year. Local efforts from Los Angeles rock climbing enthusiasts and hikers is encouraged to contribute whenever possible, as Stoney Point remains a city park granted mainly to such efforts. When you visit, do your part in practicing "Leave No Trace" whenever possible and help protect its fragile habitat for plants and animals.
